The day for world records at the 7th. RaceRunners Cup
As usually, RaceRunners cup was also held this year, which again became the largest RaceRunning event in the world. This was the 7th RaceRunners Cup, where all competitors from the camp, as well as from the junior’s camp participated.
The total number of competitors were 32 out of which some of them were from Norway,Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Denmark competed at the cup. At the derby 6 world records was beaten.
The biggest profile at the cup was Jacob Birkbak from Strandby, Denmark, who beat 4 world records.
Jacob had the world records in 100m, 200m and 400m, which he improved, as well as al so became world record holder at the distance 800m.
As he has change his training to a more strength b ased training so he has improved his records.
Jacob’s list of records, in the class T31, is as followed:
100m – 31,05
200m – 1.05,57
400m – 2.18,52
800m – 5.14,58
Not only Jacob Birkebak added new world records, also Rasmus Nielsen from Slagelse,Danmark, became the holder of the world records in 200m in the time 54,58 as well on 400m in the time 2.11,05 in class T33.
Rasmus has hereby beaten 5 world records within 1½ month; which has been analogist as a fairly good job.
As it was the largest cup for RaceRunning held on Danish ground his year, it was also in the plans that the Danish national team’s goal was to show a high level of results. With 31personal records and the 4 earlier mentioned world records, that goal was fulfilled.
It was therefore a extremely happy national coach, Mansoor Siddiqi, who could celebrate the many world- and personal records witch were conquered at the cup.
More international competition
Although the competition was dominated by the Danes, one could see the progress of all the international participants. The Portuguese athletes had improved a lot, if we compare
to the last years improvement. If the development continues, Portugal will be a good competitor to the Danish runners in the future and hopefully inspire other countries to develop the sport.
Big success
The succes of the camp was to be read by the faces of the competitors at the cup and juniors camp as well as by the people involved in the arrangement. Not only for the cup but for the
camp as well. Another milestone is therefore in place for RaceRunning, its participants and the development RaceRunning has gone through, a milestone making the goal for next years cup to be even bigger and better. The date of 13th RaceRunners Camp and Cup will be at the 6th. -13th of July 2009.
